Ken Basak’s Solar Powered Scooter

Some people are doing their part here in the Buccaneer to stop the dependence on oil and oil products. Ken Basak has been saving parts from here and there to create a Solar Powered Scooter.

The finished product was on a test run around Hidden Cove on February 18, 2006. Ken discussed the manufacturing of the Solar Power Scooter with a great deal of love. The outer skin of the Scooter was dropping from the Hurricane. Does anyone recognize pieces of their house on the Scooter?

The Solar Energy is presently obtained from the small Solar Cell located on the back of the Scooter. Ken already has the next generation Solar Powered Scooter plans in his head. In order to get a longer ride, Ken is going to get larger Solar Cells for the back and also add Solar Cells to each side. He plans on using Aluminum instead of the Steel Bed Rails on this one for the frame of his next generation Power Scooter.

Ken is always tinkering with something. This time, he has produced a very handy means of transportation around the Buccaneer. It never needs recharging and will get you where you want to go at a pretty good clip.

The drive train consists of 2 small 12 Volt Batteries connected in series to power the 24 volt electric engine. If you want to see more of Ken’s Solar Powered Scooter, check it out at 345 Doubloon Drive. It is a true work of art.
