CREATIVE WRITING I AM FROMBy Tera Alvut I am from a crowded couch, Soft, brown, and filled with stories; Pictures of smiling friends and family, Memories of good times shared with one another Dot the wall above;
I am from Mom’s homemade chocolate cake with Crisco frosting, Grampa’s spicy Polish sausage on holidays, Gramma’s Spanish meat wrapped in fried dough called Postellijos, And Kool-Aid whenever I can, To put me in a bubbly mood;
I am from summer nights running through the yard, With friends and family at my side, Scaring each other, after a long day of whiffleball in the front field, And hanging out with my life long chums, Justine and Krissy, Laughing hysterically at the stupid little things in life;
I am from a blessed house, where thanks is always said, And You’re Welcome, and I Love You pops up now and then;
I am from huge feasts at Thanksgiving, A buffet at Christmas, A warm cozy house all year round, Filled with people we know, And, sometimes people we don’t, Also, Darien Lake every year, To celebrate birthdays, When our kin gathers from around New York State;
I am from a little stuffed bear I won in a contest in a toy store when I was 5, A bunny stuffed with love by my Grandparents, I got it when I was born, And Nintendo where my brother and I play 24-7, We would all gather around the TV, And try….try to win every game.
Tea Alvet wrote this when she was 13 year olds. She is the granddaughter of Jerry and Lucy Jaromin who now live at Lake Fairways.
